Donna Smith

Donna qualified as a Secondary School PE and IT teacher in 1999, and began her teaching career working in Secondary Schools in the Southwest of England. Having enjoyed teaching GCSE and BTEC qualifications to Years 11-13 students, in 2004 Donna made the decision to move into the Further Education sector as a Programme Manager for Sport, before relocating back to Kent and joining EKC Broadstairs College as the Programme Director for Sport in 2011.
Since she joined EKC Broadstairs College, Donna has progressed her career through roles including; Programme Area Manager for Sport, Head of the Built Environment and Senior Teaching and Learning Facilitator, before joining EKC Folkestone College as the Deputy Principal in 2018. Donna was delighted to then be appointed as Principal of EKC Folkestone College in August 2021.
Having worked in education for over 20 years, Donna recognises the positive impact that a broad range of experiences and opportunities, both in and outside the classroom, can have on students. This is why Donna feels very passionately about ensuring all vocational programmes of study offer students access to work experience and social action projects that are purposeful and act to enhance each students’ employability and social skills in readiness for their next education steps or chosen career pathways.
In her spare time Donna enjoys running and cycling and often competes in endurance based events. Donna also enjoys spending time with her dog and family.
