Rob Roy

Deputy Principal

Rob Roy is our Deputy Principal at EKC Folkestone College. He has worked in post-16 education for over 10 years, undertaking a number of roles from Lecturer, Head of Department, before joining EKC Folkestone College as Assistant Principal, and then becoming Deputy Principal.

As Assistant Principal, Rob took responsibility for enhancing the student experience, as well as engaging with local employers to support the curriculum offers. He is continung this work as Deputy Principal.

Before teaching, Rob worked in the Construction industry, where he trained as an electrician before going into a training company with apprentices as an assessor. Rob enjoyed the role but wanted to inspire young minds and decided to make the move into teaching, as well as the fact that it is a lot warmer inside during the winter.

Utilising the mathematical skills gained from working with electrics, Rob taught Maths at further education level before deciding to continue with his career in the education sector, bringing him to where he is now.

In his spare time, Rob likes using his construction skills to complete home improvement projects. He also has a young family who he enjoys going on adventures with.
