Careers and Progression

“I knew I wanted to go into Construction but I didn’t know what I wanted to do.

“College looked like a great place to start and it opened many doors for me with all the site visits during my work placement.

“I learnt about other industry roles, such as Site Management, which I never knew existed, that really appealed to me.”

Thanks to his work placement, Blayk did a trainee site management course at Baxall Construction before starting full-time.

“It’s a really good College; you can make friends for life here.

“The lecturers are nice and if you want to go into game or film making than this is a great place to study.”

Mathew now has his sights set on university to study a degree in Computer Science. In the future, he wants to become a filmmaker.

“Taking part in a skills competition was exciting and challenging, but I’m really proud of what I achieved.

“College pushes you to develop your skills and confidence, and it feels great to see how much you can progress.”

Leigh is exploring her options in Hairdressing, thanks to the practical experience she’s gained on the Level 2 course.

“I’ve grown massively since joining College.

“I’ve always struggled with maths and I’ve passed. I needed to pass maths to become an art therapist.

“I would say to make peace with the outcome of your grades and do your best. You have plenty of time to succeed.”

Theresa is now looking at becoming an Art Therapist, with her options including progressing to the University of Kent.

“I would really recommend anyone to study Beauty as it’s a really good course.

“You learn lots of social skills and learn how to be independent.

“College enabled me to take part in first proper beauty competition.  I’ve loved to hold my certificate out in the salon and show off my medal.”

After gaining experience in our Salon, Leila is currently working as a Beauty Therapist.

Now I’ve got my qualification I can find a job around Business.

“I’m really looking forward to putting what I’ve learnt over the last two years into my career.

“There were so many different elements to this course which was my favourite part. It also helped me learn about having a routine, which will help me when I start work.”

Ashleigh is now exploring her options in the world of Business, with hopes of working abroad.

“I’d tell students to always embrace the challenge.

“In the Catering industry, the most important thing is to have patience and passion.

“Kitchens can be fun, especially when the whole team rallies round and supports one another. If you enjoy what you do then you will be fine.”

Daniel studied Catering with us and has now progressed to numerous roles including as a Chef de Partie in Switzerland.

“A Levels didn’t appeal to me. I’ve always wanted to go into a Art based career ever since I was little.

“At College all the staff have been super helpful, especially when applying to Uni. It was really smooth and I got the grade that I wanted to so it all worked out really well.”

Thanks to her success, Onyx progressed to the University of Creative Arts in Farnham, to study Animation.

“College was a perfect stepping stone for going to university to study Primary Education.

“We did work placement during the course which has really helped prepare me for working with children.

“I did my work placement and Lympinge Preschool which gave me a good view of education and the staff there were so helpful and inspiring.”

Evie is now at Canterbury Christ Church University studying Primary Education.

“College is a lot more relaxed than secondary school. The lecturers have been supportive, and they try and help you as much as possible no matter what your background.

“As I’ve now passed Maths, I can aim to do an apprenticeship in Carpentry or work for a firm and shortly open my own business afterwards.”

Ben has now progressed to Level 3 Carpentry at our College, and is looking forward to his future.
