Course overview


The Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying is designed for students who want to build
practical skills and start a career in the construction industry. This practical
course will develop your confidence in brickwork while helping you understand
how buildings are constructed in the real world. Working in our
industry-standard workshops, you’ll learn how to use professional tools, work
safely on site and build brick and block structures to a high standard.
Bricklayers play a key role in construction projects across the UK, from new
housing developments to large commercial buildings, and this course will help
prepare you for that environment.

Course information


Throughout the course, you’ll develop a range of practical and technical
skills used by professional bricklayers, including:



  • Health and Safety in Construction – learning how to work
    safely on building sites and follow industry regulations

  • The Construction Industry – understanding how
    construction projects are organised and the different roles within the
    industry

  • Working Efficiently on Site – developing teamwork,
    communication and time management skills expected by employers

  • Handling Materials – safely loading, unloading and
    preparing building materials for construction tasks

  • Mixing and Preparing Mortar – learning correct mixing
    ratios and preparing materials ready for use

  • Calculating Materials – understanding how to measure and
    estimate the materials needed for a job

  • Building Brick and Block Walls – constructing straight
    walls, corners and simple structures using professional bricklaying
    techniques

You will also learn how to use bricklaying tools correctly, set out brickwork
accurately and build walls that are level, aligned and finished to a
professional standard. These are essential skills used by bricklayers working
