Here are the top four study spots in EKC Folkestone College voted by the current learners.

We asked students to let us know the best spots to study around campus and why. Here are the top four study spots in EKC Folkestone College voted by the current learners…

The Meze

The most popular answer was The Meze. The mezzanine, known by students as The Meze, sits on the first floor of the Welcome Building. It is a spacious, bright study space, which has desks that can easily be rearranged for group projects, plenty of natural light, and computers ready for use.

Learners told us: “The Meze is my favourite as it is a very quiet space and only people who want to study will be in there.”

“My favourite place to study is The Meze as they are lots of computers”

“I like studying in The Meze as there is extra support and this is where I go for my tutoring”

“The Meze is the best place to study as it is quiet, there are computers, and I can wear my headphones to help me focus.”

Picnic benches

Getting fresh air and a touch sunshine can work wonders for your motivation and focus. Our beautiful campus is dotted with picnic benches and outdoor seating areas, perfect for getting stuck into your assignment or starting a group project. Whether you’re looking for a quiet corner under the trees or a sunny spot near the main pathways, there are plenty of options for you.

An Art student told us: “I like studying at the picnic benches outside as you can get fresh air and there is always lots of inspiration out there.”

Classroom

The classrooms on campus can be an excellent place to study, especially when you’re looking for a familiar and focused environment. These spaces are equipped with useful resources that can help you stay organised and productive. There’s also plenty of room to spread out, making it easy to work on group projects. Another bonus is your tutors are often nearby, so if you need a bit of guidance they will be there to help.

An Early Years student told us: “My favourite place to study is the classroom because if you have any questions the tutors are there to help.”

The Student Hub

If you make your way up the spiral staircase in the Welcome Building, you’ll discover the Student Hub – a vibrant space designed with students in mind.

It’s equipped with computers and desks for when you need to get some work done, but it also offers a more relaxed vibe with comfy beanbags and a wide selection of board games to help you switch off and have a break.

We understand that every learner has different needs when it comes to studying, which is why we’ve made sure there’s a wide variety of study spaces available across campus. Whether you prefer working outdoors in the fresh air, tucked away in a quiet corner, or in a more social, collaborative setting, you’ll be able to find a spot that suits your style and helps you stay focused.
