Our Level 2 and Level 3 Beauty students recently took their learning beyond the classroom and into an international setting in Thailand, where they trained at a partner beauty College and experienced how the global beauty and wellness industry operates.
The 12-day trip gave students the opportunity to develop their technical skills, build confidence in real training environments, and deepen their understanding of international beauty practices.
Arrival in Thailand
Students began their journey in Thailand with an introduction to local culture before exploring Bangkok and experiencing city life. These early experiences helped them settle into a new environment, gain confidence and prepare for their professional training.
Alongside cultural exploration, students learned how sustainability and wellbeing connect to the beauty and spa industry. They explored natural ingredients, ecofriendly systems and took part in wellness experiences such as hot springs, mud facials and herbal treatments.
Professional Beauty Training
Students trained at Mae Nam Kwai Industrial and Community Education College, a specialist provider of Thai massage, herbal compress creation, and beauty services with a strong focus on practical learning.
They worked alongside international tutors and learners in a real beauty education environment, developing technical ability, professionalism, and confidence.
Nail Services Training
Students developed core nail technology skills including filing, buffing, shaping, gel polish application, and nail art techniques such as dotting and freehand floral design. This helped them build precision, creativity, and confidence in professional standards.
Students were welcomed by staff and the College principal, gaining insight into international beauty education. A visit to a local nail shop also gave students experience of professional products.
Facial and Skincare Training
Students progressed into facial and skincare training, learning Thai facial massage techniques used in spa and wellness treatments.
They also created traditional Thai herbal compress balls from scratch and learned how these are used in holistic treatments, developing practical experience in natural therapy techniques.
Massage and Wellbeing Training
Students developed massage techniques including head, neck, arm, and shoulder massage.
They also took part in yoga sessions to support posture, wellbeing, and professional treatment practice, building confidence in client-focused care.
Final College Training Day
On their final day at the College, students completed their Thai massage training and learned towel origami techniques used in spa presentation and treatment environments.
The day also included a final yoga session and time to reflect on everything they had learned. Despite language differences, students built strong connections with staff and gained valuable international experience within a professional beauty training setting.
The trip concluded with an awards ceremony, where each student received a certificate recognising their participation, professionalism, and commitment throughout the programme.
We are incredibly proud of how our students represented EKC Folkestone College throughout this experience.
