Students have been celebrating today after receiving their GCSE and Level 2 results, marking the culmination of months of hard work and determination.

The atmosphere on campus was full of excitement as learners collected their grades, many achieving results that will propel them to the next step in their education or career.

For some, this means progressing to higher-level courses here at EKC Folkestone College, while others are preparing to begin Apprenticeships or move into employment.

We caught up with some of our successful students to hear their thoughts and what they’re off to do next.

Magnolia, Summer and Alexis studied Level 2 Art and Design at Junior College and achieved two Distinctions and a Merit between them.

Speaking about their journey at Junior College, Magnolia said how fantastic her experience has been at Junior College compared to being at school.

“All the tutors are all really lovely, it’s a great support system. The College builds around people’s needs and overall a really nice environment to be in.” she said.

Magnolia is set to continue her studies here at EKC Folkestone Junior College in her final year and will be studying Level 2 Media Studies.

Meanwhile, Cian is set to enrol into the Army after achieving a pass in GCSE English.

Cian said: “I got a 3 in GCSE English at school, then I went to College and tried again but missed out on a pass by four marks. So I thought I’ll revise more and study harder and it’s all been worth it now and it’s all turned out great.

“College was really fun, I met a lot of new people and learnt a new trade in bricklaying so I have a new skill and now I’ve got my English qualification. Now I’m joining the Army in October and have already got my place.”

Also celebrating was Chloe, who achieved a pass in GCSE English and is now set to continue with her second year in Early Years and doesn’t need to worry about studying English anymore alongside it.

“I’m really happy about my result today. I was so anxious and couldn’t sleep much last night, as I’ve been doing my GCSE English over and over again so I was scared I was going to fail again but I came in, collected my result, and I just feel so good.” she said.

Chloe became emotional as she found out she had passed her GCSE English.

When asked what advice Chloe would give to other students about going into College to collect their results, she said: “Getting your results sooner rather than later, I think it’s beneficial.

“Also, I would say do your revision and studying. I didn’t do it the last few times but did this time and it’s helped me so much and I’ve now passed so it’s definitely worth doing.”

We would like to congratulate all our students on their outstanding achievements and wish them every success for their future endeavours.

EKC Folkestone College Principal, Clare Brown said: “It’s been wonderful welcoming students back into College and seeing them share their success with their friends and leaving so happy.

“Not only does this represent success for them but also a representation of determination, resilience and hard work to get to this point.

“We wish them every success for the future, and for those returning to College, we look forward to seeing what the year brings for you.”
