Step into the future of digital creativity and learn from Computing and Digital student, Mathew, as we find out exactly what our Level 3 Diploma in Virtual Environment Design and Production involves and why you’d want to choose this course.

What made you choose to study Level 3 Diploma in Virtual Environment Design and Production?
I usually play video games in my room, and I was always curious about how games are made, so I wanted to see what it was like. In our course we learn all about creating video games.
I also love filmmaking, so I’m really interested in the film making aspect of the course. It’s been fun learning about architecture and creating digital buildings within the software we use; such as Unreal Engine and Unity. We’ve also learnt how to do colour grading and editing photos and video.
What’s been your favourite project you’ve worked on so far?
My recent one, which has been working on a game, like a demo, it’s been great as we’ve got to use all the skills we’ve learned so far and put them into practice. Including how we research and using all the different types of software to create a game.
What type of software do you use during the course?
I use Adobe Creative Suite for my editing, and I also use Blender for some models, and I use Unity for my actual project work which is the game engine. It’s been great fun learning about all the different types of software game developers use within the industry.
What are your plans after you’ve finished College?
I’m going to university to take it to the next level, I want to do Computer Science, and then I will try and get a job in filmmaking. I feel like that’s where my passion is after everything that I’m learning on this course.
What would you say to someone who might be interested in starting this course?
It’s a really good course; you can make good friends here. The teachers are nice, and the college has a really good environment. If you want to go into game or film making than this is a great course to choose.
