Celebrating Level 3 Results Day success at EKC Folkestone College.

An air of nervous excitement filled the College today, as students came to collect their long-awaited Level 3 results.

Results Day is a proud moment for the College, as we celebrate the achievements of our students completing T Level programmes and other Level 3 qualifications.

For many learners, they are already looking forward to their future and are now taking their next step into a world they’ve planned for throughout their College journey.

We caught up with some of our students to congratulate them on their success and to find out where they are heading next.

Samantha, a standout Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication student received a distinction.

Samantha shared their excitement, stating: “Even though it’s nerve-wracking going into College it’s also one of the most amazing things to go in and I’ve secured a bit of my future and now I can go and do what I want to do. I’m going to the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) studying the Digital Art course and I’ve applied to have an extra year there so I can go into industry and they’ve got big connections.”

Samantha’s advice to new students is: “Talk to people. I was very stuck to one person in my first year. Then when we started the second year we had to work closer with other people and it helped us all bond as a class, but I wish I made those connections sooner.”

Among those celebrating, Emily Hatton, who just completed T Level Education and Early Years, expressed their joy and excitement about what is next for them: “My lecturer, Sarah, helped me apply for a Nursery Practitioner role that I wanted, I had an interview and got the job at Shorncliffe Nursery in Folkestone so I can’t wait to start.”

They also commented: “I really wanted to work in a nursery so this course was the best option for me. I learnt everything that I needed to know about Education and childcare. The work placement was great. It really sets you up for exactly what you need to know if you want to work in a nursery and helping you to make connections with people, it’s amazing.”

Blayk Yorke got a merit in T Level Onsite Construction and due to his work placement was offered a job at Baxall Construction with a trainee site management course before starting full time in a couple of months.

Blayk told us: ““I knew I wanted to go into Construction but I didn’t know what I wanted to do. The T Level course looked like a great place to start and it opened many doors for me with all the site visits during my work placement. You learn about other industry roles, such as Site Management, which I never knew existed, that really appealed to me so I took steps from there and got a work placement with Baxall Construction, and they offered me the job at the end of it.”

UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology learner, Harley Godden, started a YouTube channel and now he has his qualification, he wants to start looking for a job within the media or marketing industry.

Reflecting on their time at College, Harley noted: “My favourite part of College has been meeting loads of people and making new friends along the way. I’ve also enjoyed collaborating with other people through the course.

My advice for new students would be don’t be too self-conscious but take advice from what people say. The more you do what you think it right you will be able to connect that with other experiences you have. For me, I started a YouTube channel because of what I’ve learnt during my course, people thought I did it too much but it’s going well, so I would say trust and believe in yourself.

I’m very happy with my result, my merit I received today. I’m glad to see that I did well from taking this course and now I’d like to start looking for a job within the media industry, somewhere to start my career.”
