Carpentry is a woodworking craft that takes skill and precision to master. You’ll be cutting, shaping and installing building materials.

Whether you focus on carpentry or joinery, you will be working in our industry-standard workshop with top-of-the-range tools such as circular saws and power planers.

Learn the essential skills, techniques and industry knowledge needed to work confidently in a wide range of decorating projects, whether that is inside homes or commercial spaces.

You will learn from experience tutors in our industry-standard workshops, using relevant tools and materials.

Learn how plasterers work on real jobs, from preparing walls and ceilings to applying smooth finishes that look professional.

You will practise these skills in a supportive environment. As your confidence grows, you will take on more
complex tasks that reflect real-life plastering work on site.

Learn in our fantastic purpose-built workshops which imitate real world working environments.

You’ll work with industry-standard tools and equipment, building the skills you need for a successful career in the trades.

Students take part in social action projects to give back to the community.

This is a chance for you to build your skills and confidence while supporting the wider public.

Alongside your course, you will have the opportunity to work with key employers in the construction industry, including Jenner and DMA Group, and go on industry visits.

Our Industry Liaison Officer will help connect you to meaningful work placements that will give you the confidence and skills needed to succeed in the industry.

All our lecturers have extensive experience in the Construction and Built Environment industry.

Whichever trade you choose to study, you will learn from an expert who can pass on industry knowledge and give you practical advice for your future career.

Our students are given opportunities to use their skills to compete with their peers in local trade competitions.

Each year, we enter our students into the KFE4Skills competition, an annual skills competition delivered in partnership between East Kent Colleges Group, MidKent College and North Kent College.
