GCSE Results Success at EKC Folkestone College

GCSE and Level 2 students received their results on Thursday 24th August and there were some great success stories.

GCSE and Level 2 students received their results on Thursday 24th August and there were some great success stories. We spoke to some of our students to find out about their achievements and plans for the future.

Xochitl, GCSE English and GCSE Maths

Junior College student, Xochitl, was delighted to have achieved an amazing Grade 9 in GCSE English Language, the highest grade possible, and a Grade 5 in GCSE Maths. She is looking forward to going to EKC Canterbury College in September to study Art and Design.  

Xochitl said: “I am so proud of my English result. It wouldn’t have been possible without my incredible teachers. EKC Folkestone Junior College has given me qualifications that mean I am able to pursue a wide range of things.”

When asked what advice she would give other students, she replied: “I would say to work hard and enjoy yourself”.

Ella, GCSE English and GCSE Maths

Ella achieved a Grade 5 in GCSE English Language, a Grade 4 in GCSE Maths, and a Merit in her Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology. She will be progressing from EKC Folkestone Junior College to study Early Years at EKC Canterbury College in September.

Ella is proud to have passed her English as it is a subject she has struggled with. She said: “EKC Folkestone Junior College has helped build up my confidence. I would advise others to keep trying and never give up.”

Benjamin, GCSE English

Benjamin was happy to have passed his GCSE English Language today after resitting his exams. After working hard, he achieved a Grade 4 with the support of his lecturer, Darren Curley. Benjamin also successfully completed his Level 2 Bricklaying qualification and will be progressing onto a Bricklayer Apprenticeship.

Elaine, GCSE English

Elaine achieved a Grade 7 in GCSE English Language. She said: “This course has proven that I can actually write, and I now enjoy writing. I feel more confident, and I am now considering studying a degree.”

Tyler, GCSE English

Tyler has passed his GCSE English Language with a Grade 4 and successfully completed his Level 2 Early Years Practitioner course. He is looking forward to starting Level 3 Sport & Exercise Science at EKC Folkestone College in September.

Speaking about his experience at College, Tyler said: “I enjoyed the course and how my tutors taught. I feel very happy with my results”.

Sidney, GCSE English and GCSE Maths

Sidney achieved a Grade 7 in GCSE English Language and a Grade 4 in GCSE Maths allowing him to progress to Sixth Form. He is proud of his results and enjoyed his time at Junior College, saying: “The teachers and learning environment were very good”.
